Sam Allardyce considers suing Blackburn manager Steve Kean

It was late last night (Monday 14th May) when I noticed Steve Kean was trending in the United Kingdom on Twitter. Immediately I jumped to the conclusion that the Blackburn owner's had decided to sack Steve Kean or he may have resigned. However this was not the case...

In fact it was a 4 minute video on YouTube causing all the uproar. The video (see link below) showed a different Steve Kean to the one we had seen over the past six months. The video is filmed at a Hong Kong bar, where a small group of Blackburn fans are causal chatting to Kean. Steve Kean is blissfully unaware that he is being recorded and the detrimental affect this could personally have on his future.

Currently the West Ham manager and in the Championship Play-Off final too boot. Sam Allardyce left Ewood Park in December 2010. Which resulted in Steve Kean's rise to the managers position at Blackburn. But it appears from Kean's point of view that the pair may not have seen eye to eye, especially over the promising young defender 'Phil Jones'. Therefore it is fair to say, that the two may not have parted amicably.

Since the video was posted last night it has attracted over 250,000 views, and widespread media attention. Kean was set for talks today with the Venky's today over Blackburn relegation from the Premier League. Whether or not this revelation will be a talking point, we don't know. However more often than not, the foreign owners of English Football Clubs are very 'brand conscious'. Although the Venky's have previously been very quick to publicly support Steve Kean as manager, whilst under heavy scrutiny. On the other hand is  no longer delivering Premiership Football the last straw for Kean?

Finally, I am not a Blackburn fan. I do wonder whether or not this video would have ever seen the light of day if Blackburn had stayed up? Even more so, had Steve Kean guided them to say a strong mid-table or top ten finish?

Attendance speaks louder than words!

Last night Chelsea kicked off their 2011/12 Champions League campaign at home to Bayer Leverkusen. Tickets have been priced at £40 for an adult ticket to the home group stage matches. A 33% increase on the previous season, that's not mentioning that should Chelsea inevitable qualify to the knockout stages and so on, the prices will rise even further! I was one of the 33,820 in attendance last night, that figure was also made up of a lot of tourists and tickets given out on the day of the match to: personnel at the club, local football teams and the Chelsea FC ladies team are the ones I know/heard of. This combined with Chelsea running radio adverts a week in advance on three radio stations, they still couldn't get a full house in. Among some of the negativity surrounding last night, there were some nice touches: Michael Ballack received a warm reception and was presented an award from Bruce Buck for his services to CFC and at half-time Frank Leboeuf did a lap of the pitch and got down and kissed the penalty spot at both ends.

In summary £40 is clearly too much. The next home UCL match is against Genk, arguably the least attractive opposition in our group. A campaign has been started by some fellow Chelsea supporters, calling for a boycott of the game versus Genk. In the hope Ron Gourlay and the rest will become aware that 40 quid is not realistic pricing. At the same time I can also understand some fans arguments that the team needs support and that if we don't go then we miss out on the 5 loyalty points, which are important for the big games. If no one makes a stand and let our feelings be known then more and more of us will be priced out of going to Chelsea.
